The cost of the Sydney Metro City and Southwest has increased by up to one and a half billion dollars, according to secret government documents.
The documents reveal that the real Estimates Total Cost (ETC) for the project is $13 billion – up from between $11.5 billion and $12.5 billion outlined in the project’s latest business case.
The Sydney Metro City and Southwest’s budget had already increased by almost $3 billion having been originally costed at between $9.6 and $11 billion.
And now these internal documents reveal the true cost to be $13 billion - another increase of between $500 million and $1.5 billion.
This comes after revelations last week of $1.1 billion in WestConnex compensation claims, the late and over budget M4 widening and the Sydney Light Rail is not on track to be delivered on time and at risk of a further blowout.
