Sydney homes have been bought and abandoned by the NSW Government. They were meant to make way for the WestConnex but the route changed, leaving taxpayers with a massive maintenance bill. According to a resident, one of the houses was given a grant by the local council to restore its heritage value. Jodi McKay, Shadow Roads Minister, says millions of dollars have been wasted. She says the government owes the community an explanation.
Dennis Cliche, WestConnex chief, explained his salary at an inquiry today. Daniel Mookhey, Labor, asked the level of revenue that WestConnex is meant to collect. Cliche says he will have to take it on notice and come back to them with the answers. The minister says using the WestConnex will be half the cost of travelling from Penrith along the M7, M2, Lane Cove Tunnel and Harbour Bridge.
