Toll road operator Transurban is cashing in with its near monopoly on Sydney's motorways. The latest figures reveal it is raking in the cash, particularly with tolls on trucks. The M7's revenue has increased by 15.7%, according to the latest figures. Jodi McKay, Shadow Roads Minister, says Transurban is raking in profits and motorists are suffering. Duncan Gay, NSW Minister for Roads, says all tollways operating in Sydney are under contracts put in place by the previous government. Trucks pay almost triple what regular motorists pay, but this is ultimately passed on to the consumer. Transurban says it's had to increase the toll for trucks because it's raising money to pay for the NorthConnex. Next year, a toll will be reintroduced on the M4.
