Shadow Transport Minister Jodi McKay has today joined Member for Londonderry, Prue Car MP to demand the NSW Government upgrade the commuter car park at St Marys Station.
The upcoming State Budget will be a key test for Minister Andrew Constance to see whether he understands the local community and the urgent need to increase capacity at the St Marys Commuter Carpark.
Mr Constance needs to assure the St Marys community that St Marys commuter carpark will be expanded to provide an increasing demand on the station.
At a time when Western Sydney’s population is booming, commuters need to be encouraged to use public transport and this can only happen if people can park close to the station.
The St Marys Commuter Carpark is often full before 8:00 am leaving commuters stranded every morning.
Quotes attributable to Shadow Minster for Transport Jodi McKay:
“The government has had no problem designing glossy brochures and expensive animations for new train stations – but it continues to ignore commuters in Western Sydney.
“It’s unacceptable to have anyone in the community struggle to access public transport – whether they're elderly, have limited mobility or parents with prams.”
Quotes attributable to Member for Londonderry, Prue Car:
“I am constantly receiving complaints about the St Marys commuter carpark.
“Our area is booming, including a rapid expansion of suburbs like Ropes Crossing and this growth is not being met with infrastructure.
“The Government needs to urgently look at upgrading the St Marys Commuter Carpark and I will be keeping a close eye on the State Budget in June.”
